Our Blog...Our Journey

Wow!!  Can't believe it has been so long since I have written. I guess packing, moving and working two jobs really keeps ya busy. So as many finally know, Udder Joy Farms is moving to Athens Tennessee. Gary has already moved there and is on his 3rd week as a mechanic for Mayfield Dairies. The boys and I have stayed behind to finish up things here and prepare for the trip. I have gained a whole new appreciation for my husband as working, running a business/farm and being a mom are alot for one little farmgirl! The boys athletic schedules alone are a full-time job!
Yesterday was a tough day as we took our Miss Ellie to her new home at Alyssa's. I am very happy with her new living conditions, but saying good-bye is still super tough. We love that crazy pig...she has provided us with many great market hogs as well as many hours of scoopin' poo...love her anyways! :)  Miss Ellie will FOREVER be a part of Udder Joy Farms. Love you Elle!
We took a huge step of faith and put a down on a rental home yesterday. We actually may be able to pick between two homes. One is a beautiful single story brick/lap siding home with a finished basement which sits on an acre and a half of flat graze land. The other is a slightly older white farm house with finished basement that sits on 14 acres of graze land. Both would work for the goats and the owners are completely understanding of our livestock needs.  The older farmhouse has old Tennessee type barns...however it is not available yet as the other will be January 1st.  At this point, us being together as a family is overriding the extra land...so we shall see. The same owners have both homes. We are all praying the current renters will give notice in the next few days. We'll see.......
Many have asked what will be happening to our product line when we move. Well good news! The product will be stocked here in Prather at Hannah's Hair. We also are online through our Etsy. Nothing will change for the farm except it is moving. The business and product line will continue on just as before. I will however be taking off the month of January as we travel there, build pens and get everyone settled. We will be at two shows the next couple of weeks for those who would like to stock up before we head out.

So what's the plan at this point? Well we have put a down on a house which would be available to us on January 1st. Gary is already there so he will begin during December preparing pens for the goats. Josh, Jean and I will head out January 1st for Tennessee (while eating Chicken Fried Steak all along the way)! ;)  With us we shall have: our home contents, 14 goats, 3 ducks, 3 dogs and two cats! whew! :)  Gonna be a FUN ride....I am hoping to make it there in 5 days. Justin Michael will stay here with the Naze Family as he finishes up his final Chieftain Basketball season. He will then fly to Tennessee in time for Cherokee Spring Football!  That's pretty much the plan as it has been revealed to us...now as we all know God changes things, so there ya go...:)  Wanna make sure we are continually submitted to his plan throughout.
Through our packing, goodbyes and trip I will keep everyone updated through the blog. It helps me to write it all out. This move has two sides for us...exciting and SO happy for Gary (he LOVES it there), but also sadness and grieving as we leave relationships that mean the world to us. I know and believe that God has an amazing plan for us and I know that he will guard, protect and heal our hearts as we move forward in this. Gotta tell you though, every time I talk to Gary, I know this is all good and right :)
