Been awhile since I've been here. I am going to attempt to be much more disciplined about my blogging. We shall see how it goes. Much change has been happening for us including the move to our new farm in Madisonville TN. It is a 16 acre dairy farm from 1929. There are some amazing sights on this property including the original milk rooms. We were hoping to open for tours and visits this fall, but unfortunately the cleanup was a bit more than we had originally anticipated and will push our opening into Spring 2015.I am super excited about having visitors!! Here are a few glances of the new farm...

"Time to....." That was my ongoing prayer pretty much continually. If only I had the time too....Well now I do! So today I needed to do washing, but I was really low on detergent. I'm standing in the kitchen with Joshua to my right diligently working on his Science and I say, "I think I'm gonna try to make my own detergent out of those extra bars of soap I have". He says, "Can we (I LOVE that, we) do that Mom"? I say, "Why not, your doin' Science right"?
So began our journey today into making laundry detergent from our Farm's Goat Milk Soaps. We gathered all the necessary ingredients and tools and put on our thinking caps. About an hour later, we had a mason jar full of Udder Joy Farms Laundry Detergent. Now...we need someone's clothes to test it on...Oh I know...Daddy! Sorry bud, you had the least amount of votes! ;) We are in the testing phase now...we will keep you updated! Oh! I just heard the washer shut-off! :)
I have gone from being in a place where I was almost too comfortable to a place where everything is new. Through this transition, he is teaching me so many new things about who He is and who I am in Him. With that being said, I LOVE to write and share! So...I have decided to add a new page to our blog....it is called, "A Farm Girl's Heart". I called it this because that is exactly what will be published here...the ramblings, joys and most likely sometimes, struggles of my heart. Anyone who truly knows me knows I live "out loud"! I don't know what will be posted here, but I do know that it will be my personal journey as God continues to transform my life! :) Hope you enjoy and may God bless you over and over! :)
We pulled in on January 13, 2012. The trip had many ups and downs including a 5 day stay in New Mexico due to vehicle issues. I won't go into a ton of details as living through it once was enough for me. Bottom line...we all made it here safely and happily! :) Due to our stop over in NM, we had some unscheduled breeding go on while we were unloaded at The Stromberg's...so come June we will be very busy here.
Since arriving, we have been extremely busy building pens, barns and coops. We finally got everyone settled and have almost all of the house unpacked. It's amazing how much work, both physically and mentally is involved with moving...especially West Coast to East Coast (practically).
Much much much to do...but were getting it all done.
Our product line is back up and running and we are busy now preparing for upcoming Spring shows including The Chattanooga Market. We are excited to jump back in! New this spring will be our New Lavender Lotion, our New Egg Shell Soap for men and our Lavender Laundry Soap! Exciting and busy times here. Please bear with us as we work on getting all of our social media outlets updated and current. I am still workin' and learnin' especially with the site (udderjoyfarms.com). :) Thank you for your patience...you can always check our facebook for the latest.

Let's talk again real soon!
Can't believe it has been so long since I have written. I guess packing, moving and working two jobs really keeps ya busy. So as many finally know, Udder Joy Farms is moving to Athens Tennessee. Gary has already moved there and is on his 3rd week as a mechanic for Mayfield Dairies. The boys and I have stayed behind to finish up things here and prepare for the trip. I have gained a whole new appreciation for my husband as working, running a business/farm and being a mom are alot for one little farmgirl! The boys athletic schedules alone are a full-time job!
Yesterday was a tough day as we took our Miss Ellie to her new home at Alyssa's. I am very happy with her new living conditions, but saying good-bye is still super tough. We love that crazy pig...she has provided us with many great market hogs as well as many hours of scoopin' poo...love her anyways! :) Miss Ellie will FOREVER be a part of Udder Joy Farms. Love you Elle!
We took a huge step of faith and put a down on a rental home yesterday. We actually may be able to pick between two homes. One is a beautiful single story brick/lap siding home with a finished basement which sits on an acre and a half of flat graze land. The other is a slightly older white farm house with finished basement that sits on 14 acres of graze land. Both would work for the goats and the owners are completely understanding of our livestock needs. The older farmhouse has old Tennessee type barns...however it is not available yet as the other will be January 1st. At this point, us being together as a family is overriding the extra land...so we shall see. The same owners have both homes. We are all praying the current renters will give notice in the next few days. We'll see.......
Many have asked what will be happening to our product line when we move. Well good news! The product will be stocked here in Prather at Hannah's Hair. We also are online through our Etsy. Nothing will change for the farm except it is moving. The business and product line will continue on just as before. I will however be taking off the month of January as we travel there, build pens and get everyone settled. We will be at two shows the next couple of weeks for those who would like to stock up before we head out.
Sierra Oaks Senior Center in Tollhouse...December 1st, 2012 9am-3pm.
Shapemakers 2000 on Herndon and First...December 8th, 2012 10am-3pm
Our website is www.udderjoyfarms.com
Our Etsy is www.Etsy.com/Shop/UdderJoyFarms.
So what's the plan at this point? Well we have put a down on a house which would be available to us on January 1st. Gary is already there so he will begin during December preparing pens for the goats. Josh, Jean and I will head out January 1st for Tennessee (while eating Chicken Fried Steak all along the way)! ;) With us we shall have: our home contents, 14 goats, 3 ducks, 3 dogs and two cats! whew! :) Gonna be a FUN ride....I am hoping to make it there in 5 days. Justin Michael will stay here with the Naze Family as he finishes up his final Chieftain Basketball season. He will then fly to Tennessee in time for Cherokee Spring Football! That's pretty much the plan as it has been revealed to us...now as we all know God changes things, so there ya go...:) Wanna make sure we are continually submitted to his plan throughout.
Through our packing, goodbyes and trip I will keep everyone updated through the blog. It helps me to write it all out. This move has two sides for us...exciting and SO happy for Gary (he LOVES it there), but also sadness and grieving as we leave relationships that mean the world to us. I know and believe that God has an amazing plan for us and I know that he will guard, protect and heal our hearts as we move forward in this. Gotta tell you though, every time I talk to Gary, I know this is all good and right :)
As many of you know, we have recently began participating in The Farmer's Market In River Park on Tuesdays from 5-9pm. Things have been going really well, but much more than just product sales have been happening. Almost every Tuesday we get to see and spend time with friends that we have not seen in forever! Not to mention all the new people we get to meet! I love sharing our Farm Stories with people and hearing theirs...it is such a fantastic way to spend a Tuesday night! So I invite you to come on down and see us tonight.

Our Sunshine soaps will be the new soap available tonight! :)

Next week our Avocado Sea Clay Bar will debut...plus our garden Strawberry & Cucumber Fresh Scrub! :)

Ya know when there are so many exciting things happening that it's almost exhausting? Well that's how things have been goin' around here. Since we have chatted last, many amazing opportunities and changes have occurred within our family and business.

July has been our first month out at The River Park Farmer's Market and for the most part is has been going fairly well. My favorite part is all our old friends I get to see! Sometimes you never realize how much you miss those in your life until you see them again. Our Raw Blessings line has been moving fairly well and there has been quite a bit of interest in the family farm visits...could be a pretty busy Fall season for us!

We are in talks with A1 Feed and the possibility of having our product stocked in their store. This is so great because I just LOVE A1 feed! When no other feed store has what I need...they do! By far, they are my favorite! Having our product in their store would be an honor for me. :) If it weren't for Mitch at A1 feed, I am pretty sure my little peanut would be dead today...Hoo-ray A1!

Football season is starting which is always just such a great time in our home! Both Justin and Joshua play and I love how our entire family enjoys watching together. I do need to hurry and order my "Football Mommy" bling shirt! Justin Michael just loves that you know...LOL! Some of my favorite moments with friends and Family have happened in Football Stadiums! :) And this year...my sister and her family are here from Texas, so instead of it being just Jodi and I...now it can be Jodi, Val and I. This makes my heart happy! :)

So...now the big news. After Gary's work trip to Texas, he felt led to research a dairy in Tennessee, "Mayfield Dairy". He went ahead and applied and yesterday received an email from them asking if they could call and speak to him. So..........all in all......Udder Joy Farms could be moving. It is all in God's hands....his plan .....his timing. We discussed all this as a family last night and truly decided that we could be equally happy in either place. Who knows.......maybe we are simply expanding? I mean, my sister is here now....and they need somewhere to live........hmmmm....I could see my little niece and nephews workin' a farm! :0)

I don't know and I don't need too because God does know! :)

But...I wish you could have seen the look on my husband's face when he saw that email!

That alone made my night! :)

Hey there Farm Family! How ya'll been? Wonderful I hope! I have some changes that I need to share with all of you. Over the past year or so, my husband and best friend has been struggling with some health issues. It has been tough, but we have waded through it together. Last week, he had to go to Texas for a week and was away from the family farm. Everything went fine, the boys and I handled most issues with ease and patience...even that pesky coyote that seems to think this is his new home...NOT! Over the week, I had alot of time to simply focus on my life, our family and our farm. Through all of that, I realized that things could be as great as they could possibly be...BUT none of that mattered without my husband and my kids! You see...this whole farm thing...it is a family affair! We all milk, we all feed, we all create (in one way or another) and honestly, without my family, I don't want to do it!

So...why am I sharing all of this with you guys. Well, my family (particularly Gary and I) have been working fairly non-stop towards increasing our Farm tours and visits...and some of that has happened at the expense of Gary's health. So...as of right now, June 18th, 2012...we will be takin' a little break to focus on our family.

For our customers this simply means we will be booking NO Farm Tours or visits until Fall. We also will be attending no shows until Fall. Our Etsy Store and Farm Stand will remain open. I apologize if this causes any scheduling problems for anyone, of course that was never our intention...BUT I will only continue to step forward with my husband by my side and right now...he needs to rest...so we will all rest...together.

Thank you for understanding and continuing to support us.

We shall meet again in Fall 2012!

Just a note: I will begin bookings for Fall now. We will be attending several shows as well as car shows, so I anticipate our schedule will fill quickly.

So last night I sold two of my does to a new friend I met during one of the Farm Visits. Robin was the leader of the Norco FFA which visited on April 21st. Her mom...Elaine had raised Nubians before and is interested in getting back into it. Yesterday she came and visited and left with both Flower and new York LuLu. Ya know I understand that I cannot keep every goat born here, obviously, but...I do so wish I could! Granted the letting go process is alot easier when I know they go to such a great home! Thank you Elaine and Wayne for providing such a wonderful place for my babies...I know they will be loved there.

After the girls left, I sat on the porch swing (which I never do...sit down I mean) and just kind of rested and thought about everything...not in an overwhelming, "everything I need to do" way, but in a "look at all God has done" kind of way. There was this amazing peace and everything I looked at was stunningly beautiful...even the blasted rabbit that just happened to randomly hop by!?! I'm fairly sure he was a distraction by the enemy! ;)

I thought about Flower and what a great milker she had been for me, how she has fed and nourished my family, how Kim, myself and Leslie were all there to see her born, how she and I have driven through Starbucks drive thru?!?...I love her much and will miss her much! She always made me smile and laugh. The milkers are always hard to let go of because of the extensive relational bond you build with them during milking...but yesterday when she was chewing on Wayne...I could tell it was time for her to move on. Goodbye my sweet Flower!

And my itsy bitsy Lulu...so sweet, so precious, so blessed and touched by The Lord's hand. She should have probably miscarried when Ethyl Belle became so so sick, but yet there she was. I remember Joshua and I sitting in that kidding pen with Ethyl and seeing those little hooves emerging and both of us praying God's promises over our herd out loud over Ethyl and the birthing baby...and then there it was...a live baby...and a doe at that! Now we pass on that blessing to The Lindsey's. :) Be the amazing doe I know you will Lulu! Take care of them as you would have taken care of us...love you baby girl! :)

May has been a very busy busy busy month for our family. Gary became quite ill in the latter part of April and his condition, which was finally diagnosed as Vertigo still continued into May. Even though Gary ( who is a major presence within our family and farm was still recovering) off to Chowchilla Fair we went! Both of our markets did well...Chompers did GREAT! Both hogs this year were homegrown from Ellie and a boar out of Barone Farms in Caruthers. Payday weighed in at 269 lbs and placed 8th out of 18 in his market class (it was tough competition) and Chompers weighed in at 258 lbs and placed in the top 3 of his class! The hog that beat him ended up being the Overall Reserve Champion!?! Needless to say Joshua and I were feeling quite comfy with that placing and Mr. Vandenack (our 4h advisor) said we had every right to be proud with our home-growns landing in the top 3 two years in a row! Last year...all three of our homegrowns landed in the top 3! Feels good :) Joshua had a tough time letting go of Chomps this year, but he made it through. :)

On another note our older son Kyle has moved back home from Reedley. He was struggling with working 40 + hours at Savemart, school and feeding the Reedley farm. The commuting between Fresno and Reedley daily was killing him and his truck. Sooooo....he is back at home. It is working out just fine and we always appreciate the extra help around our farm.

Our family is getting ready to go through some pretty big changes with schools, jobs, etc. Sometimes this stuff really weighs me down. I wonder...what is the best decision concerning my children's education. I'm struggling with this right now. Our schools are struggling so horribly and of course we support keeping them open, but their is another side...our son's education. What is the best right now...idk. Scripture tells us that God wants us to have the desires of our heart (as long as they line up with his word) and my heart's desire right now is to stay home and home school Joshua. But...I really do LOVE SUSD...so what do I do? My friend Mary suggested pulling him and putting him on independent study, that way I am teaching him, but were still supporting the school. Right decision? Idk. I would like his education to be founded on God's word. It's tough...this stuff. So...what are we doing about this? Well...we are praying and asking God to open the doors for me to stay home...according to my calculations I need approx. $1000 per month. So...we have begun aggresively pushing the business. We have June almost booked with tours, we are putting our product into stores on consignment aggreements and I will be attending craft shows to increase sales. We have also began selling more of the animals (which we all know I love to keep them all)! :) The store will begin being open every day from 1-5pm right now.

These new movements have put additional pressure on me,

but the question is: How bad do I want to be home with my son? Answer: Pretty darn bad! :)

Now, even though I really wanted to go (and I did) I was struggling a bit because women's luncheon type thingy's just aren't my deal...they are so..."girlie" And yes, I know I am a girl! All of you who know me are fully aware that I am much more comfortable playin in the dirt than sitting at a luncheon. Even so, I felt The Lord calling me to this and my heart actually did really want to be there. So, Gary and I went shopping for a dress (cus I was thinkin, Women's luncheon=dress, right?) Well...that little expedition lasted about 23 minutes...and I ended up over at Lowe's buying veggies! HA! :) I wore white pants, a cute little orange top and those super cute striped heels that my sister and I love soooo much...and I was me and comfortable (which is what I love about Breaking Free sooooooo much...I can be ME! )
Anyway...I left the mountain a bit early so I could stop on the way and grab up a Starbucks (coconut is out for summer) and as I pulled into Temperance Starbucks ( my regular) there were like 6 cars in line?!? I took a moment debating whether or not I could have time...I decided that this particular Starbucks moves pretty fast and I would have more than ample time! Well...........NOT! I am now blocked in by a Mustang in the back and the path is too narrow on the sides for an F250 to turn around...and my watch was ticking faster than it had ever ticked before...I start to panic and ask The Lord to please slow time because I REALLY don't like being late ( I feel it shows disrespect). In our conversation ( God and I) I asked him why is this happening, the line so slow, this is crazy and yet there is this strange peace that it is ok and I will get to MWOG at exactly the perfect time! So...I relaxed, cranked up KDUV and waited on my coffee, which ended up being fantastic! Gotta love coconut! :) Oh...Starbucks was training! :)
I pull into BFRC parking lot at exactly 9:30am (the time which Karen told me to be there) and I hop out of the truck preparing to race inside...when a lady calls out to me (who also had just arrived). "Excuse me", she says, "I am assuming by the large white goat on the back of your truck window that you may have a connection to goats?" Well...we all know what I answered! :) Loooooong story short...this woman has had an interest in learning about goats, home dairying, sustainable living and other fun type stuff and she has been waiting on The Lord to show her the connection she was to make....waiting for quite awhile I understand. I feel honored to be that connection that God placed on her heart. She is a strong woman of God and those are the new friends I need and want! So...I believe that God slowed me down at Starbucks to plan a divine meeting in the parking lot of BFRC! Gotta love that! :)
All day today someone has been texting me asking me if I would be interested in a bed they had...a pretty cool bed too! Multiple times this text has come...with pics! However, each time it has come under this strange name that I did not recognize. Finally I texted this person back this morning and asked who they were. They responded by letting me know who the BED previously belonged too. How nice, except what I needed to know was who is this who is texting me asking if I want the bed?!? So I responded today asking who they were and low and behold...it was my very own MOTHER!?! Unfortunately, I have Kyle's old cell phone and apparently he has little names for all his contacts...names of which I do not know! Take Gary for instance: his name on Kyle's phone is, "Ole Man Pops" Understand my confusion...I never know who is calling or texting me!
Love your fun spirit Kyle! :)
It has been exhausting and great at the same time. And now here we are...a week away and then comes a storm that is drenching us ALL weekend! Now what? Not sure...........today my faith is struggling. Maybe this is the tests of all tests...not sure. I guess we will see next weekend, won't we. For those of you who are able to come, this is as far as The Lord would let us go. Much has been accomplished and alot of things look great. Maybe HE is trying to remind me that it's about the people there and not the stuff. Anyway...I pray and stand on what God has said.

The Herd Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18385841756116346672noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1379673302500769363.post-88011438832594719732012-03-23T08:53:00.002-07:002012-03-23T09:05:37.984-07:00Steady steps forward...
So as everyone knows we have been steadily working towards the "Agri-Tourism" side of our business. It has been exhausting and wonderful at the same time! We have had alot of help and support and are extremely thankful for that. Working together towards a common goal has been wonderful for Gary and I and our relationship will reach 25 years this coming July! :) If nothing else....our farm will be a wonderful place to raise little goaties and piggies from here on out.

Many projects are ongoing, but right now, at least on my end, I am working on the goats nameplates. As people walk up the pass-ways, I want them to be able to actually "connect" with the goats. So...I was thinking...you really can't connect with something if you don't even know it's name! Result=each goat (and Miss Ellie of course) will have a nameplate as you walk up the pass-ways....that way everyone will know each other! :) Gary thinks I'm crazy...but what's new there :) Notice the creative name our boys picked out for Eleanor! I think I will tie a bellpepper around their necks and throw them both in there with her!

Blessings to you,
The Herd Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18385841756116346672noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1379673302500769363.post-21755361597172129302012-03-12T14:00:00.001-07:002012-03-12T14:00:13.494-07:00This is some good stuff!G2322 Mineral Requirements for Growing Swine | University of Missouri Extension
We have quite a bit of work in front of us, but we LOVE it! We started yesterday with the goat pens. Because we want people to be able to be as close to them as we can without being nibbled on, we designed a pass-way that will literally allow people to pass right through the middle of both pens. It also will make milking for us much easier as the prego's/new mom's/eventual milkers will stay in one pen separated and in direct line with the milking barn (or so goes the drawing!)

We have also decided to keep our old barns/garages instead of purchasing or shall I say loaning new ones! When we moved here, I thought...for what crazy reason would you need 5 garages/barns?!? Now I know! I am so thankful for a God who knows so much more than me!

I do have to say that I have the most amazing husband ever...Gary has volunteered to give up the main big barn (which he uses for his garage) to the business...it will become the milk parlor/demo room. This barn will be the main place where home dairy demos and classes will be held, not to mention where we will milk everyday. He is moving to the unfinished front garages where he will basically have to rebuild and close in another area. I love him! This was a hard choice for him and us...we tried to make the small barn work, but there just isn't enough room.

He is an Amazing Selfless Man of God!

Why are we doing all this? Because God has told us he has plans for here and us! We will be having a Open Farm Day (kinda like an open house) on April 21st, 2012. People will be welcome to come visit, shop, and hang out. The remodel will probably not be done, but oh well! ;) Things will probably be under tents and canopy's, but oh well! All of our family will be here (prayerfully Kyle will get the day off) and even Kadalynn (Kady) will be here. There will be demos and corn hole and fellowship and shopping and just everything....It will be a blast! We also will be visited by an FFA group from the LA area...exciting! This is a day we believe God has ordained and put into being, but to be honest I have struggled alot in confirming it. I tried my hardest to find every reason in the world why we shouldn't do this. We are by no means ready facility wise, especially with everything being torn down to the ground. I like everything in neat little perfect packages with a tidy bow on top! God is teaching me his way of moving forward even when there is no bow and it's not tidy! Right now I/we are completely walking blindly in the spirit. Ethyl Belle gave birth to a stinkin' cute baby girl on Super Bowl Sunday around 1:30pm. She was a tiny little single, but cute as a bug...her ADGA name is New York Lu...but we lovingly call her Lulu! She is named after her grandmother, Angilou.

Storm (after torturing me over a very long week) finally gave into labor on Friday morning around 7am! She gave birth to two beautiful little boys. These young men are already spoken for and will spend their days on Ellis Acres in Auberry. Storm's birth was a gift to us from The Lord and we recognize it as that. Her struggles over the past 18 months were nothing but preparation for God's Glory!

It is only because of The Lord's hand that both these does brought forth offspring! Thank you Father!

Kim Cooper won our, "When will Storm deliver"! She gets her choice of three handmade Udder Joy Farms Soaps! Kim...Congratulations!

We now wait for Irish Creme to deliver and then have Angie in mid-April. From now until then, we will be working diligently toward preparing for Farm Tours this Spring and our kick-off event in April. On a mixed feeling note, our oldest son and the reason we started goats is moving into his own place this weekend. He is 20 and ready! Mom...well...a day at a time. Not seeing his cowboy boots on the back porch struck my heart strangely, but I know this is what's right. ;)

That is two for me out of the nest...or maybe I should say...Out of the barn! :)

The Herd Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18385841756116346672noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1379673302500769363.post-70351442179727865552012-02-03T20:23:00.000-08:002012-02-03T20:55:07.807-08:00Waiting Waiting...
Don't ya love it when you have everything ready and then nothing...if we were any more ready for babies, they would simply fall from the sky. This is a special blessing for our farm due to Storm's illness last year that caused her to miscarry twice and lose her sight for 6 months. We weren't sure she would ever be able to breed again...but God had different plans! Ethyl Belle was exposed 9/4/2011 to Tobias so in all reality she should be good to go any day now. Gary and I were both able to attend together this time, which was really great! Met some amazing people. I just love hearing people tell about thier passions and dreams and I love meeting other people who dream as big as I do. We were blessed to sit among some wonderful people and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to their upcoming ventures.

We learned a ton and found out that we really aren't alone in this pursuit at all. There are all kinds of others just like us moving in the same direction and more importantly that there are people out there who desire to support and come along side us newbies. That is music to the ears when your doing what were doing!

One of the men we met has a Grade B sheep dairy in Caruthers and was interested in coming along side us during our pursuit for our Grade B. This license would allow us to produce and sell cheese and ice-cream. This would be a huge blessing to our farm. The cheese sales alone could boost us to a whole new level. So very exciting stuff...although Grade B permitting is a lot of funds and permits, but definitely reachable according to our new friend...Abe!

All in all a super great day! :)

The Herd Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18385841756116346672noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1379673302500769363.post-62647551184349775252012-01-12T13:18:00.000-08:002012-01-12T13:54:00.500-08:00New Year...New Beginnings! :)
Well...I haven't posted for awhile...it has been quite a struggle with Ellie. Her pre-delivery issues unfortunately got the best of her and she delivered only 8 babies...five alive and 3 dead and seriously stuck! She ended up being in labor for over 3 days, we had to pull the last three HUGE babies and Dr. Kahn finally had to come on the 3rd windy rainy night. He cleaned and flushed her out and gave her the best shot at survival that he could. She did survive, but with the onset of milk fever...lost two more of the live babies. It was a tough couple of weeks. Josh and I pretty much lived out there with her and the babies until we knew for sure that she was gonna make it.
She did not get up for 6 straight days, did not eat for 6 straight days, did not poo for sick straight days....to say we were all stressed would be an understatement! But on the night of the sixth day, I (who was sleeping on a cot in the hog barn) woke up to Ellie's snout in my hair?!? Gotta be honest I was overjoyed and scared to death at the same time!
Needless to say...Ellie is alive and healed (Thanks to The Lord and his Dr. Kahn).
Her 3 boys: PayDay, Mr. Jenkins and Chompers (named because upon being stuck he bit onto Gary's glove and was pulled out by Daddy) are healthy wild little piglets now.
I am happy to report that all is well on the piggy front!

The goats are all wonderful and we are preparing with great joy for Storm's impending delivery. After her 4 month illness and two miscarriages last year, we never thought she would kidd again. So Feb. 9th can't come soon enough! I will be home with her even if I have to quit my job...
I can't wait! :) We have reduced the herd quite a bit trying to consolidate farm costs.

We lost Shelbie in November right before Thanksgiving due to her chronic illness. She put up the good fight with her disease and far outlived her forecasts after she was diagnosed. We will forever have her in our hearts! Her passing was heartbreaking and joyful at the same time as we loved her, but knew she was hurting. I still cry often as I walk past her resting place under the pine in the front yard. Kyle also struggled greatly at the loss of his precious Shelbie!
We must go on though as this is how life rolls.

We are beginning the journey into Farm Agritourism and are making alot of improvements around the farm! It is an exciting time right now. The sites are finally all done and the Etsy store is up and going one product at a time! We will have a kick-off farm party in April and other exciting activities coming up...so stay tuned! :)

The Herd Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18385841756116346672noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1379673302500769363.post-24230659697045980492011-11-21T13:57:00.000-08:002011-11-21T14:11:02.442-08:00Blessings Abound!
Many wonderful things have been happening and are continuing to happen at Udder Joy Farms! We were recently asked to put our Raw Blessings line in "Arts Effects Gallery & Boutique in Morro Bay! I was and am soooo excited! I have prayed so long for this exact day! :) Thank you Kathleen McCarthy for having such faith in our product and farm!

I have been super busy filling Christmas orders, going to shows and working on everything for the store....but....I have had to take a break as we prepare for PIGLETS once again! :) Ellie is due to deliver anywhere between tomorrow and Friday. She is large and in charge as of this moment. Joshua and I have been steadily preparing for this day since last August! So keep an eye on our blog as we will update it with news, pics and even a video (if I can talk my sweet son in law into compressing it for me!) We are hoping and praying for Thanksgiving day as we will all be there together...even Ash & Serg! What better day than that to come in to the world! :) There will be love magnified by 7! :)

SuzanneThe Herd Momhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18385841756116346672noreply@blogger.com0
